Company Background

The whole concept of Hard Candy started in the year 1995, when a twenty-something woman named Dineh Mohajer was having trouble finding the perfect nail polish color to match her flashy sandals. Dineh, the original Hard Candy Girl, never found that shade - so she decided to create her own by mixing some colors. This original nail polish color was a perfect baby blue and after receiving dozens of compliments she designed a small line of four Easter eggshell colors of nail polish - sky, sunshine, mint and violet.

These four shades were an instant hit in the stylish Los Angeles boutiques. However, it wasn't until Clueless star, Alicia Silverstone, mentioned her Hard Candy manicure on the David Letterman show that the sensation turned into a huge success. Ten years later the company now boasts 150 beauty products available and offers makeup for eyes, lips, face, and body, including their product staple - nail polishes.
